"One breath session is equivalent to 2 years of therapy" - Dr Henry Smith-Rohrberg
The breath is nourishing us in every moment, continuously working to keep us alive. Helping us to move and function, the breath provides power to think and create. It reveals our physical, mental and emotional states. The quality of your breathing determines the quality of your life.
Breathing is an amazing function of the body; it can be totally under involuntary/unconscious control or entirely voluntary/conscious & most often a mix of the two. Breathwork can be used to clear your head, calm your nerves, settle your stomach and open your heart. Breathwork can relax, energize and unwind chronic tension in the body and nervous system. It can fuel your passion and support a behavioral change . You can use it to access the unconscious mind and expanded states of consciousness. Inhale into the belly, into the chest, and exhale out. These three parts are the premise of breathwork which begins to slowly flow energy through your body.
Conscious connected breath aka circular breathing is entirely through the mouth, faster & deeper than your regular breathing pattern without a pause. There is a reduction of CO2 causing the body to compensate by alkalizing the blood enabling certain brain changes. Transient hypo-frontality is a result of breathwork powering down the frontal lobe. This area of the brain is responsible for the ego, mental constructs & where your inner critic lives. Once powered down you have heightened access to intuition, inner wisdom & deep personal truths.
Breathwork is a powerful tool of emotional integration and what you learn and practice in a breathwork session has immediate and permanent benefits. Breathing deep saturates our bodies with oxygen, clearing negative emotions, traumas & other stored emotional experiences from our sympathetic nervous system. The Vagus nerve is indirectly stimulated by deep breaths into your belly improving vagal tone, heart rate variability and activating deep relaxation from parasympathetic nervous system.

Common physical symptoms during breathwork
"The primary intent of consciously connected breathing is the activation and accumulation of Presence and present moment awareness through the integration of the unconscious emotional blockages that inhibit our current experiences."
- Michael Brown
